African American Artists Semantic Platform

The project aimed to provide a comprehensive solution for the integration of electronic infrastructures (e-infrastructures) and their metadata, enabling the consolidation, aggregation, delivery, enrichment, and easy search and exploration of the data.

Industry: Cultural Heritage & Preservation

Time: 3 years

Type: Semantics & Software Development

Project Idea

The goal of this project was the enrichment of the gathered information for the African American artists that Paul Mellon Institute holds in a digital format.

The salience of this dataset was conducted through the transformation of the database into a big semantic database. For the design and the implementation of the new structured database, mappings and ontologic graphs were generated.

Data reconciliation and integration was conducted a step before the visualization of the data through the Research Space platform.
