Project Idea

South Italy remains underexplored in terms of the reconstruction of Sacred Spaces revealing the lack of complex methodologies that take into consideration the interactions between space, image and ritual performance. This project aimed to investigate how concepts and forms of sacred space were shaped in Medieval South Italy within a broader European and Mediterranean context.

Concisely from a technical perspective, the available data were transformed into a semantic database and Research Space platform was utilized for visualizing data. Customizations were applied for adapting the UX and UI form into the desired functionality and performance.

An interactive map was a useful function that captured the geographical diaspora of data and assisted researchers to define geographical polygons of interest.
